There is no way I am turning my oven on this week.
| | These Kind of No-Cook Recipes Are My Go-To During Summer Heat Waves | | I love the summer, but I really can't stand the heat. You know what they say you should do if you can't stand the heat? Get out of the kitchen! And I have no problem doing that when it is 98 degrees outside. Still, even though my brain is convinced that we are breaking up with my kitchen for the summer, my stomach says otherwise. To start the day when I need to feed myself but can't be bothered to turn any of my appliances on, I turn to quick and easy smoothies for breakfast. Then it's sandwiches like chicken salad or the classic banh mi. They don't have to be cold, necessarily, but as long as they don't require me to turn on the oven, stove, microwave, or toaster, I am happy. Mason jar salads—there are so many combinations! Some of my go-to's recently have been Vegan Chickpea Tuna Salad, which is great in a wrap or by itself, or a Black Bean and Mango Salad. If you are looking for something sweet, there are so many options to choose from, like a No-Bake Yogurt and Cool Whip Pie. (We have loads of no-bake desserts, just saying.) I really want someone to make this Watermelon Cake this summer, it is just so cute! And if you do make it, tag us @thespruceeats on Instagram and TikTok so I can see. - Brooke Schuldt Social Media Editor | | | | | | | | | | The Spruce Eats on YouTube | | | | | | | | | | | | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to The Spruce Eats newsletter.
