We love a recipe that doesn't skimp on the garlic. We love having this caramelized onion and garlic chicken over rice or pasta or even on sandwiches and burgers.

Love Our People Like You Love Our Food
For over 25 years, ever since I first learned as a child that "different" and "special" were disparate concepts, I was a pick-me girl working hard to erase my own cultural identity. I took pride in willful ignorance of my own heritage; I wasn't like "other Asians" and tried to fit as few of the stereotypes as I could. In a school of 300 where I was only one of three AAPI students in any given year, I felt it was, in fact, my responsibility to prove the diversity of our people—to single-handedly battle the overwhelming preconceived tropes by being not one of them.

Things We're Reading, Loving, Pondering
I loved this story in Food52 about a 1994 church cookbook that honored the lives lost in the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Could it be a path for how we grieve during COVID? I've also been looking forward to reading this story from Alyse Whitney about her Korean adoptee potluck (I mean, these blondies sound amazing). The reviews are in for Starbucks' Chocolate Cream Cold Brew—apparently it tastes like a caffeinated chocolate milkshake? I'm sold. You're not alone if you can't stop watching people organize their fridges. And I'm extremely intrigued by this lemon stick from Chrissy Teigen's Instagram. Have you tried it before?

5 Things to Do When You've Lost Interest In Everything

Known as anhedonia, this feeling can cause people to lose interest in activities they used to enjoy. It also causes people to not enjoy or experience pleasure when engaging in things that they used to love doing.

Classic French Opera Cake
Classic French Opera Cake
There is much debate as to who, exactly, invented the original opera cake recipe and where. Some culinary historians have set it as far back as the 1890s, while others put its creation at a Paris shop in the mid-20th century. Most opera cake enthusiasts agree that the best—to some, the only—place to buy opera cake is at Dalloyau, where it was named L'Opera in honor of the Paris Opera.

Whichever camp you fall into, the delicious taste of coffee and chocolate makes this opera cake recipe well worth the time investment. It includes a total of six layers made of light almond sponge cake (joconde in French), coffee buttercream, and dark chocolate ganache, all topped with a chocolate glaze.
