TripSavvy is Celebrating Arts and Culture This November
The arts have always been one of the primary things I center my travels around. When I visit a new city, one of my favorite things to do is spend an afternoon museum hopping, checking out all of the latest exhibitions on view. I also love to take a walk around and observe street art, book tickets to a music or theatrical performance, or just sit in a cafe and take in local fashion. For me, the arts are the gateway for understanding a destination's culture, and the time I spend listening, observing, or taking in creative beauty is key for me to gain insight on my surroundings.

Just a few weeks ago, I spent an afternoon at Amsterdam's Eye Filmmuseum, checking out their latest exhibit on the film-inspired performances of Belgian avant garde theater director Ivo van Hove. It was one of the most incredible exhibitions I've seen in years; I almost canceled my lunch reservations to stay the entire day. That afternoon inspired me to write about 10 other exciting exhibitions opening up around the world next year, all of which I'm hoping to travel to.

It's certainly been a challenging 18 months for many of the world's arts and cultural institutions, but as travel begins to open up, the excitement of experiencing the arts has never been more palpable. That's why we've dedicated our November issue to stories that highlight the world's beautiful libraries and newest museums. We hope that our stories on the artist collaborations that are redefining travel gear, the complicated relationship between cities and spontaneous art, how the world's most historic sites maintain their beauty, and more will inspire you to get out into the world and experience beautiful things.
