TATTOO TOUR

Last weekend, I saw my friends Terror put on the show of their lives opening for Obituary in LA. It was the first time in over a year that I'd gone out to a show. I rolled with my homie Doug (ex-Terror, ex-REBEL8). Between sets, while catching up at the bar, Doug reminded me that I gave him his first real job after he left the band. He joined REBEL8 back when we were still in SF, helping out in the warehouse. He quickly became our sales rep—because Doug is one of those people you just want to be around. And people buy from people they like. It's that simple. And it matters. After Doug came on board, we started thinking—how could we tour again? This was hella years ago, and back then, brands didn't tour. Music artists weren't really running full-blown clothing lines or selling merch year-round either. So we leaned into what felt real. To connect our tattoo roots to the idea of touring, we started hitting tattoo conventions across the country. It made sense. Conventions were affordable, and at the time, a lot of tattooers rocked with REBEL8. It was organic. It was ours. To support the idea, Mike Giant and I selected a few of his illustrations to showcase—and made them available exclusively on the tour. Now, all these years later, I find myself in this full-circle moment. Working with Mike again. Reconnecting with Doug. Looking to build something new in hardcore. Going back to our roots—not just metaphorically, but for real. And this time, I want to bring you with us. Yeah, you read that right. I want you involved. Hind should have celebrated her 7th birthday.

I hope you're having a blessed week so far.

I began writing an email this weekend after my conversation with Wesam, Hind Rajab's mother. I wanted to write about the children. About heartbreak. About Gaza. But I couldn't find the words.

I closed my laptop and didn't send the email out.

Today, we all witnessed another radiant child murdered by the occupation. His name was Hassan. He was a child who loved to sing with his father Alaa. Even before this current genocide, they sung together. They would sing beautiful Palestinian folk songs during the genocide to lift other's spirits. 

Today, his father sent us a collaboration request on Instagram, we accepted and then we made a post for his son, so we can do our duty of telling his story.

Afterward, he messaged us. He said, translated into English, "May God bless you for not forgetting him."

 

We were heartbroken as we thought about all the children we didn't get to honor. All the untold stories still buried under the rubble.

 

So I came back to this email. And I still wasn't sure where to start. I still don't know what words can possibly carry the weight. It feels like all the words have been said, and it seems nothing changes.

 

It's been 65 days. Over two months since food, water, and medical aid have been allowed into Gaza.

 

The journalists I speak to daily are now responding slower and slower—each of them telling me the same thing: They are starving. They're exhausted. They're spending their days searching for food for their families, like every other person in Gaza.

 

Every hour that passes, we lose more of them. Not just in body, but in spirit. In silence. The kind of silence that the world gets used to. The kind that makes it easier to look away.

 

The number is almost too big to understand, 290,000 children are on the brink of death because of famine. In a world of abundance, they are starving, and it's being done deliberately.

 

Palestine is where the mask has slipped. It is where the facade of the so-called 'golden' western morality, long admired by the world, has come face to face with the truth of oppression and imperialism. The ones who choose to see it, see it. 

 

If we want a better future, we cannot allow 1.5+ million people to be starved and bombed while live streaming themselves desperate, hungry, and heartbroken, carrying their dead children in their arms.

 

Please, do not stop protesting, speaking to everyone you know, posting, disrupting, and doing everything you can to keep Gaza as the focal point and the center of the world's attention.

 

We must build a better world for our children. Keep your head held high. There are billions of us who want justice. There are so billions of us who want to live in peace, side by side.

 

They will be free. Every oppressed person will be free. And in turn, we will all finally be free.
