TRAVEL TODAY Away Luggage Sale Away Surprised Us With Another Luggage Sale, and I, an Away Newbie, Am Thrilled Even though I've been a travel editor for four years, and a frequent flier for much longer, I've been traveling around with a secondhand, banged up suitcase since I first visited Europe in college. And when I say banged up, I'm talking a giant rip on the side and a missing stud foot. So last December, in the midst of the holiday gift giving rush, I asked the other TripSavvy editors for personal recommendations on checked luggage. Flash forward to March, when I finally put Away's name to the test on a six-week-long visit to my Indiana hometown. This was my first time using hardside luggage, so admittedly I was worried about the unforgiving yield of a polycarbonate hard shell (how could I cram six weeks of clothing in here?) as well as the lack of exterior pockets. But thanks to the interior compression system and mesh divider (with pockets!), I was able to fit everything I could possibly need in the bag—with room to spare—and organize everything neatly. Even my mom, who isn't the type of person to go for big-brand products, was impressed; when she was helping me with my bags at the airport, she commented on how smooth the 360-degree spinner wheels are. My co-workers were right: Away really does live up to the hype.
