Why Kayaking is the Perfect Socially Distanced Activity
I'm a city girl through and through—born and raised in Queens—so I wouldn't exactly say I grew up by the seaside, unless the East River counts. But I've always loved spending time on the water—and I especially love to kayak.

In my opinion, kayaking has it all. There's no need to rev up a noisy engine. You don't have to worry about breathing in smelly fuel. And as someone who is definitely not sporty, I don't feel like I need to have any crazy athletic skills to have a great time. It's just you, your kayak, and nature—all at your own pace. Carry on a conversation with friends, put down your paddles and snap some photos, or even take a break to do some fishing. It's outdoorsy, but in a chill way.

This summer, I got the opportunity to take a brief city escape up in New York's Finger Lakes region. Each morning before heading to the region's award-winning wineries, I woke up early, had a coffee by the lake, and hopped in my kayak, cruising across clear glass waters. It was the perfect social distancing activity, and so easy, too! With my collapsible water bottle, a trusty pair of shades, and lots of sunscreen, I was ready to go. If you're planning to take a kayaking trip this fall, the below products should definitely be on your packing list.
