Buying a Travel Humidifier Was My Best Decision of the Year
I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that 2020 has been brutal, especially when it comes to keeping ourselves healthy physically and emotionally. Now closing out month six of quarantine life, I'm trying to undo months of stress and bad posture—and a part of this new wellness routine includes powering up my handy humidifier again.

I first joined Team Humidifier in late 2019 on a vacation to Seoul, and the flight did a number on my sinuses. That year I spent way more time on planes, where humidity levels are often lower than 20 percent (the average house is between 30 and 50 percent). After five long-haul flights in two months, my mucous membranes felt like sandpaper, which was seriously impacting my sleep on planes and at home. Combine that with cold air? I was a bit miserable to say the least. That's why I spent $30 on a cute little humidifier shaped like a cartoon lion.

Every night of that trip I fell asleep with damp air shooting straight into my nostrils—it was some of the best sleep I had in months. By the time I got back home, I was fully behind the concept of humidifiers, so I upgraded to a larger one that doubles as a mood light and came with six essential oils, making my room smell like a spa. As the weather starts to cool in some parts of the world and we'll likely be forced indoors 24/7 again, mindful self-care will be even more important. To help you improve, or begin, your routine, here are my favorite self-care and wellness essentials.
