| | WHAT WE'RE WATCHING | 🚨 Trump confirmed plans to deploy the military for mass deportations. President-elect Donald Trump confirmed his plans to declare a national emergency and use US military assets to carry out mass deportations. His opponents in blue cities and states are already gearing up for legal challenges, but Trump's team is crafting executive orders designed to withstand court scrutiny. | ⚖️ DOJ officials brace for investigations under Trump's administration. Senior Justice Department and FBI officials are reaching out to lawyers, fearing criminal probes as President-elect Trump supposedly seeks punishments against those he believes targeted him unfairly. Many within the DOJ are preparing for what they expect to be drawn-out legal battles, with concerns over costly defenses, potential pension losses, and aggressive congressional investigations. | 🗳 PA Supreme Court ruled that some mail-in ballots cannot be counted. In a 4-3 decision, the court reaffirmed its past stance, mandating counties like Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery to comply with rulings that prohibit them from counting undated or misdated ballots. This marks a significant win for Republicans, who filed 12 lawsuits during an intense recount effort to secure David McCormick's narrow Senate victory over Democrat Bob Casey. | 🚀 Hezbollah rocket attacks kill one, injure dozens in northern Israel. | | WHAT WE'RE HEARING | Donald Trump said he is "not looking for retribution, grandstanding or to destroy people who treated [him] very unfairly." Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) said the Senate should "absolutely" have access to the Matt Gaetz ethics report before his confirmation. The Wall Street Journal editorial board claimed installing Rep. Gaetz as attorney general via recess appointment — as in, to bypass a Senate confirmation — would be "anti-constitutional." Boston Mayor Michele Wu said she will not cooperate with the feds on deportations, claiming they would cause "widespread fear" and have a "large-scale economic impact."

| | NARRATIVE TRACKER | Morning Joe visited Trump in Mar-a-Lago. Mika Brzezinski said that although she and her husband/co-host Joe Scarborough have "profound disagreements" with Trump, they want to reopen communications with the same man they have been comparing to Hitler. ABC News spoke to a lawyer who claimed that two of his clients were paid by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) for sex, and that they witnessed him engaging in sexual activity with a 17-year-old. However, officials from the Justice Department already said the witnesses had "serious credibility issues." 60 Minutes reported on Trump's cabinet picks with extreme bias, painting Pete Hegseth, Matt Gaetz, Tulsi Gabbard, and RFK Jr. as evil and ignorant. The show, which used to be regarded as one of the most prestigious journalistic TV news programs, now puts in little effort to provide fair coverage for Republicans. CNN highlighted Trump's declining popular vote margin as evidence that he lacks a clear mandate to pursue his agenda. However, the fact that Trump swept all seven swing states and won the popular vote — when no Republican presidential candidate has won it in 20 years — is evidence that the American voters overwhelmingly back him.
