Alaska Railroad's Full Summer Schedule Is Back
On Our Radar
It will soon be the single largest U.S. airline flying across the Atlantic.
And masks will no longer be required starting this Wednesday.
Just in time for its centennial anniversary in 2023.
Destination of the Day
Formerly known as a sleepy town for civil service members and diplomats, Ottawa has recently become a hot spot for startups, creatives, and young professionals—and with the influx of culture and capital has come a burgeoning food and festival scene. Much more than just parliament and government buildings (although, admittedly, they're still quite the draw), this charming city boasts internationally renowned museums, a plethora of government-funded festivals, and a surprising amount of natural splendor tucked into the city center.
While Ottawa may be on the smaller side compared to neighboring Toronto and Montreal, the government town is full of fun and unique experiences all year round. Whether you're captivated by the rich history of the capital city or you're hoping to take advantage of Ottawa's wide variety of all-season outdoor activities, festivals, and markets, here are the top things to do in Ottawa—from the best shopping to the must-visit sightseeing spots.
These days, the city is very much on par with larger Canadian food scenes and plays home to some of the most exciting culinary hot spots in the country—including natural and organic wine bars, modern plant-based eateries, and expertly executed international cuisines. Whether you're looking for fine dining, vegetarian-friendly, budget-friendly bites, or you're simply hoping to taste some really great poutine in Canada's capital, these restaurants in Ottawa and the surrounding area should be on your radar.
The tides have turned on boutique and luxury hotels in the city—while there are a handful of century-old properties that have been serving government officials and travelers for decades, the city has also become home to more modern and sophisticated properties to house its discerning influx of travelers. Need help deciding where to stay? Explore Ottawa's best neighborhoods to base yourself in for your trip, and choose your lodging for your stay from our list of the city's best hotels.

Get Inspired About an hour and a half outside of Oaxaca is Hierve el Agua. The name of the place means "the water boils," and refers to how the water bubbles up from a mineral spring (although the water is in fact cold). This is a spectacular site: a calcified waterfall on the side of a mountain, with two natural infinity pools at the top. Hike part of the way down for great views of the "falls," set against a dramatic backdrop of mountains and sky. If it's a hot day, take a refreshing dip in the mineral water pool before you leave.
