"I was a little skeptical at first, but now, I'm sold."
| | | | | | This Carry-On Backpack Has Become My Go-To Travel Bag of the Summer | Call it revenge travel if you want, but since getting vaccinated, I've gone on an unprecedented number of summer trips: a long weekend in the Finger Lakes, a few days in Indiana celebrating my dad's 60th, two weeks in the Pacific Northwest hopping from one national park to the next. And time and again, I find myself returning to the new YETI Crossroads 35L backpack as my travel bag of choice. I'll admit: I was a little skeptical about this backpack at first. I had never used a carry-on backpack before, so I wasn't sure if I would like carrying my entire load on my back. And for a brand known for coolers and ramblers, I wondered if YETI could successfully make the leap into luggage. But now, I'm sold. With a 180-degree clamshell opening, the Crossroads 35L is designed to function like a suitcase that can fit up to one week's worth of clothes—or two, if you're ambitious. It comes with removable straps that you can use as compression, waist, or sternum straps, depending on your needs (I like using them as sternum and waist straps to help me balance my load). The Crossroads 35L is also made with Tuffskin Nylon, which is the same material they use to make airbags and motorcycle apparel (i.e. it can handle my clumsy coffee spills). Plus, with its sleek design and Aquifer Blue Green color, it's a gorgeous, head-turning backpack. (And with YETI's recent debut of its autumnal color collection, you can even get it in Harvest Red, perfect for any leaf peeping adventure.) As a backpack designed to be the "everything" bag, you really can use the Crossroads 35L for every type of trip.
