I love summer a crab-ton.
| | These May Be the Best Crab Cakes I've Ever Had | | | September always makes me feel nostalgic about crabs. Not just any type of crab, though—I'm thinking specifically of steamed crabs lathered in Old Bay-Style Seasoning. With summer coming to a close and school starting, the soon-to-be fall season reminds me of my college years spent on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I remember gathering with friends and fellow students during the first week of school in the pavilion by the river and sitting at tables lined with newspaper, their surfaces piled high with bushels of steamed blue crabs accompanied by wooden hammers for picking. The scent of Old Bay perfuming the air still lives vividly in my memories. I was definitely seafood-spoiled, living in Maryland. The proximity to fresh crabmeat and the iconic Maryland crab cake was absolutely delightful. It's something I miss more than I thought I would, now that I live in the center of North Carolina. As a result, any time I stay in the Baltimore area, I make it a point to stop by Bertha's Mussels in Fell's Point and order their insanely delicious crab cake sandwich. Pair it with a flavorful remoulade sauce and a nice cold Belgian beer and... *chef's kiss*. Don't have plans to be heading towards Maryland anytime soon? Try out one of these crab cake delivery services to satisfy your crabby cravings.
