This month's tasty features pay tribute to the world's best flavors.
| | | | | | TripSavvy Is Celebrating Food and Drink in September | Many of my favorite travel memories have some connection to food. A sourdough bread bowl of clam chowder somewhere outside San Francisco, savory street crêpes in Paris, Indian food in London—all stand out in my memory when I think of those trips. This is due, in part, to the fact that I just really enjoy eating, but also because of my conviction that food is one of the easiest ways to learn about a culture. From the spices used and kinds of protein mixed in, to who typically does the cooking, to the preparation methods and plating preferences, cuisine tells a story that many don't actively think about when digging into a meal. Learning about different cultures through food is one of the main reasons I love to travel so much. My wanderings around the world have led me to street food carts, Michelin-starred restaurants, food halls, and cozy diners. I've had the pleasure of learning about the origins of ropa vieja while sitting at a paladar in Havana. I spent two glorious hours learning about the origins and fermentation methods of tea in the Twinings London flagship store. I went on two week-long trips to South Korea in the span of six months. Why? Well, because there were still a bunch of restaurants I had yet to try. So imagine my delight working on this month's digital issue, where we turn towards the wonderful world of food and drink. Curious about the legacy of iconic hotel bars? We've got you. Want to learn how climate change is revolutionizing the wine industry? Done.
