| | | | | | The One Accessory That Keeps Me Warm and Cozy All Winter Long | One of my favorite parts about this time of year is socks. Yes, socks. Don't get me wrong, autumn and the start of winter have many charms. The trees change colors, winter holiday markets open, the air is crisp and refreshing, and the crowds of tourists leave some parts of NYC. But for me, cold weather means curling up in blankets, working on some sort of craft (knitting and crocheting at the current moment), and drinking a lot of tea. Since I try to keep my heat off for as long as possible, I'm always wearing a pair of socks to keep my feet warm and dust-free. Maybe it's just me getting old, but I can't get enough of them, especially a good wool pair. (The TripSavvy team is even having a sock-themed white elephant gift exchange this year, so I'm not alone in my affinity.) It wasn't always like this for me, though. For years I thought socks were boring and unimportant, only there to keep your feet from getting too sweaty. But I slowly realized that they tie an outfit together and help keep me warm at home without posting up in front of a fireplace as I did as a child. After my trips to Korea, I had two dozen pairs of socks to add to my sudden collection. This year's cold weather season will be different than in years past, but as a homebody and former full-time freelancer, my personal routine will be largely unchanged. Every day I down an obscene amount of hot tea, pull on a cozy pair of socks, slip on my house shoes, and work through my day. After work, I'll add in a comfy blanket, a podcast, and a craft project to keep the coziness going all day. If you're looking for some comfort in this less-than-comfortable time, or you just want to keep warm as it starts to get cold outside, TripSavvy has you covered with these cozy season picks. | | Our editors independently research, test, and recommend the best products and services; you can learn more about our review process here.
