Hey Friend,

Before we get into today's content, I wanted to make sure you knew about the free webinar I'm hosting next week (see more info at the bottom of this email).

This week, I've got two timely campaigns that you should get ready soon.

Let's jump in.

Campaign Idea 1 - The Movember Email:

  • Email Examples:

    The Movember Email Example 1

    The Movember Email Example 2

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

If you own or operate a brand with a majority male demographic, you should probably send one of these emails. Movember is an organization that does some really solid work for men who suffer from cancer. November is the month that we raise awareness and potentially donate our money and time to a charity like Movember that can make a real difference. These campaigns are good ones to study, so you can do something similar.

Example 1 is from CW Beggs. They went with the angle of "proceeds go to Movember". You don't necessarily have to do that, but it does wonders for your brand if you can contribute a small percentage of your sales to a charity.

This email was great, and I'm sure it made a huge impact. The only thing I would've done differently is explain what Movember is and why it's important. There are still a lot of men who don't know what Movember does, and they may have been able to convert more customers if they leaned more into the emotional angle of it.

Example 2 is from Beardbrand, and as always, this email was masterfully done.

Eric at Beardbrand is a master of communicating with his audience. That's why he's as successful as he is. His ability to connect the brand to Movember and explain the details effectively to inspire his audience to take action likely did wonders for his brand. If I were to create an email for this occasion, it would've been a blend of both of these examples. Explain the significance of Movember while showcasing the products that'll be contributing to a donation.

  • Segment(s):

    - Your Engaged Subscriber Segment

  • Subject Line Ideas:

    - What Movember means to us

    - It's No Shave November

    - Hey (firstname), did you shave bro?

  • Preview Text Ideas:

    - Support if you can.

    - And we're donating X.

    - You're a monster. It's Movember...

Campaign Idea 2 - The Halloween Sale Email:

  • Email Examples:

    - The Halloween Sale Email Example 1

The Halloween Sale Email Example 2

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

Yes, we did Halloween stuff last week. But there's so much good content that I need to show you. Here's the thing: you're competing with hundreds (if not thousands) of other brands who are bringing their absolute best for Halloween. If you're running a sale, you need to be more creative than everyone else. I can't tell you exactly how to do that, but I can give you as much inspo as possible. That'll give you the best chance of having a successful Halloween sale.

Example 1 is from Olipop. The subject line for this email was "no spooky ingredients". This is a great segue into the main selling point of Olipop, which is how "non-chemical" it is. Their offer in this email is just "free shipping" which is kinda underwhelming, but they're not a huge discount brand. They deliver a great product that is priced fairly. The reason they don't need to do discounts is because their emails are THIS good. Cheers to the team for this one.

Example 2 is from Liquid Death, and even though shared this last year, I have to bring it back. It's that good. Even though this isn't really a "sale" campaign, I'm telling you right now that this might be the most creative marketing strategy that I've ever seen. Liquid Death is known for being creative and witty, but this is amazing. They added a Halloween mask to the side of their box. I've never seen a brand so capable of expending any and every resource around them to offer endless value to their customers. This is unreal. The takeaway here? Use your packaging to have some fun with your customers.

  • Segment(s):

    - Your engaged segment

  • Subject Line Idea:

    - We're not scared of you, (firstname)

    - It's a thriller...

    - Is that seriously your costume?

  • Preview Text Idea:

    - But we ARE scared of this...

    - thriller night 🎶

    - You dressed up as (firstname)? So unoriginal.

That's it!

I hope you enjoyed these campaigns because I definitely enjoyed sourcing them and breaking them down for you. This is one of the best parts of my week.
