Hey Friend,

I've put together 3 email campaigns you should send soon.

It's a very productive set of campaigns we've got for this week. Lots of important messages, and lots of reasons to reach out to your audience. Don't miss this one.

Real quick though, ecommerce logistics isn't dominated by massive 3PLs anymore.

Consumers *expect* personalized shopping experiences, and brands *need* specialized fulfillment partners to meet this demand.

But in Q4 brands suffered left and right from disruptions caused by their 3PL.

There were tons of mistakes happening, and I even heard of three week shipping delays (can you believe this??).

Which is why I've been recommending this marketplace to find the right fulfillment partner… and avoid the horror stories.

And a solid 3PL is often your "secret sauce" to scale while maintaining your unique brand feel.

The issue isn't whether or not a great 3PL actually exists, but knowing where and what to look for (or getting intro'd by a trusted referral).

So if you're looking to partner with the best fulfillment center for your brand, use this marketplace and 3PL finder service.

Let's now jump into today's edition:

Campaign Idea 1 - The Black History Month Email:

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

The month of February is dedicated to Black History. I should forewarn you, if you are not a person of color, it's best to consult with a person of color to make sure that you don't misconstrue the message. I've seen many campaigns go wrong because a misguided marketer will say something tone-deaf, which ends up hurting people and harming the brand. Just...be careful. Here are some examples of how to pull it off.

Example 1 is from Youth To The People, one of the leading women's skincare brands today.

The worst thing you can do during Black History Month is to make it about you. YTTP makes sure that the spotlight is on the people who founded this holiday and made America what it is today. They use appropriate messaging to make absolutely sure that there is no confusion regarding WHO you should be paying attention to. Just shine the spotlight on influential POC, and do not use them to sell any products. Observation. Genuflection. Respect. Capiche?

Example 2 is from Blue Mercury, a skincare/makeup blog/affiliate site.

Since this is less of a brand and more of a blog, this email is more focused on the POC founders that are featured on the site. Acknowledging POCs in DTC is one of the best ways to go about this, and many brands with POC founders did this properly last year (like Gleamin). If there's anything you take away from this, ensure that you do everything you can to put the spotlight on our POC brothers and sisters in this community.

Campaign Idea 2 - The Galentine's Day Email:

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

So, get this. Valentine's Day, but with your friends. Sounds fun right? This campaign is targeted to women who prefer to spend Valentine's Day with their friends, and pushing products related to making these girls' nights as fun as possible.

Example 1 is from a brand called In Good Taste. With this one, they focus on creating the best possible date night for just the girls: wine tasting. I'm not even one of the girls and I hope I get invited to Galentine's Day just for this. This is a great product that fits within the vibe of a good girls' night and is totally something that would crush in sales. Pitch your product in a unique way that makes it seem like there's some Galentine's utility there for this holiday.

Example 2 is from Bala, one of the few well-known DTC brands that have landed on Shark Tank! Apart from this design being amazing, this is a very productive way to spend Galentine's Day. Working out with the girls, getting in shape...for next Valentine's Day. It's extremely giftable if you're looking at platonic gifts, and it's something that you and your friends can use together. Again, just think about how your product can make for a fun night, or some type of bonding experience. That'll make this email successful.

Campaign Idea 3 - The Being Single Email:

  • Email Examples:

    - The Being Single Email Example 1

The Being Single Email Example 2

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

This may seem like a similar angle to the last one, but I promise that it's different. The day after Valentine's Day (February 15th) is known as Single's Awareness Day, but trust me. They're aware. We've all been single on Valentine's Day, and you either absolutely love it or absolutely hate it. To serve your single audience, there are a couple of emails that you can send to speak to them without making them feel bad for being single af. Nothing wrong with that.

Example 1 is from Alo. They're celebrating singles with a nice discount and a new drop. Doesn't sound so bad being single anymore, does it? If your audience is in their early 20s, there's a good chance that they're not in a relationship and feel some pressure. To connect with them on a deeper level, you can express that it's normal to be in their situation and not make it weird. Make it feel normal that they're single.

Example 2 is from Youth To The People, again. We started this newsletter with them, and we're gonna end it with them too. The angle here is not that someone is "single and alone", it's that they're independent. I love that. They express it so well and do what I just said in the example above. They change the meaning of it from shame to empowerment and I think that's the exact right way to look at it. Swipe some lines from them, they make it look easy.

  • Segment(s):

    - Your engaged segment

  • Concept + Subject Line Idea:

    - If you're single, put your hands up

    - You're alone on Valentine's Day? Us too...

    - We're not single...we're independent

  • Preview Text Idea:

    - 🙌

    - Let's be alone together.

    - Let's celebrate.

That's a wrap!

I hope these are useful to you, and you're ready to hit the list with some super strategic and event-based emails. You got this, I know you'll crush it.

And if you're looking to partner with the best fulfillment center for your brand, use this marketplace and 3PL finder service.
