Netflix is developing a series adaptation of the popular comic "Something Is Killing the Children" published by Boom! Studios. Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the creators of the cult series "Dark" and "1899", have been tapped to write, showrun, and executive produce the project. They will also direct the pilot. The comic, which has sold over 2 million copies since its launch, tells the story of a town plagued by monsters that feast on children, and a mysterious young woman named Erica Slaughter who enters the setting to kill the monsters. The adaptation will be the first project to come out of bo Odar and Friese's freshly renewed first-look overall deal with Netflix. Previously, the comic was being developed by Trevor Macy and Mike Flanagan, the team behind "The Haunting of Hill House" and "Doctor Sleep", but the project fell through due to creative differences.
