Let's jump in to today's edition of send these campaigns:

Campaign Idea 1 - The April Fools Email:

  • Email Examples:

The April Fools Email Example 1

The April Fools Email Example 2

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

The only thing worse than April showers? Getting April fooled. If it's not you, it has to be your audience. You can be a savage and fool them, or you can be the shining light, their safe space where they don't get fooled. Up to you.

Example 1 is from Mixtiles, a DTC whale.

Their audience is mostly older women, and I can tell from firsthand experience, they do not like to be fooled. Instead, they decided to run a price-slash sale as they usually do. There's not much to this email, but Mixtiles is so massive that everything they do is a signal. If they're doing an April fools sale, there's a real good chance that you should be doing one too. Just sayin'.

Example 2 is from Hydrant, and they got us good with this email.

This is an inside joke with their community, which is why it works. They don't use fake flavoring. They use monkfruit. Dropping fake products is a great way to get a laugh out of your audience without causing too much harm. A good way to kill your brand would be to run a fake discount and turn off all potential buyers. Don't do that. Do it like Hydrant.

  • Segment(s):

    - Your Engaged Subscriber Segment

  • Subject Line Ideas:

    - Are you...a fool?

    - We're about to fool the heck out of you

    - Open if you're not a fool.

  • Preview Text Ideas:

    - Hmm...

    - Don't say we didn't warn you.

    - No foolery. We promise.

Make More Money From Your Email List:

There's a platform that's putting power back into marketers' hands.

The past few years have been anything but easy with all the chaos we marketers have had to deal with. From privacy updates to rising CAC to layoffs and a looming recession. It's been tough, to say the least.

And while there's no silver bullet — there is one asset that will make weathering the storm (and thriving during it) a lot more likely:

Your owned audience: Email + SMS.

A company I'm advising called Retention.com has built a platform that'll help you do 2 primary things around identity resolution:

1. Their platform will help you send more abandonment emails (up to 5x-10x more), resulting in a boatload more revenue being generated for your or your client's brand.

2. Their platform will help you to capture more emails of people visiting your site. You're spending a lot of money to get people to your site, you might as well maximize your email capture. And no, your current popup just isn't cutting it.

I highly encourage you to chat with them about how they're helping my clients and others like Tonal, Blendjet, Dr. Squatch, etc. make a ton of money (seeing an average 2x-4x ROI) from their Email and SMS channels.

Campaign Idea 2 - The Spring Mood Email:

  • Email Examples:

    - The Spring Mood Email Example 1

The Spring Mood Email Example 2

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

It's finally spring, and you know what that means. We get to send emails about it being spring! There's not much to speak to here other than the fact that most of America and all of Canada just made it through a brutal winter, and it's time to celebrate. Let's do it like these brands.

Example 1 is from Outdoor Voices. Who better to speak to a spring campaign than OUTDOOR voices? No one. This one is super fun and I actually enjoyed reading it. They have a super cool voice, and they didn't even have to sell anything here. The one thing I loved is that they have the option to join on a nature walk, which I've never seen another brand do. That's super cool and you should do that if your brand is based in a major city.

Example 2 is from Spritz, another killer CPG brand. I'm not even going to mention the fact that this is an amazing design, because that should be abundantly obvious. They have some talented creatives on their team. This is a super simple sale email that I'm sure did very well for them. Doesn't have to be super complicated, just do it like Spritz.

  • Segment(s):

    - Your engaged segment

  • Subject Line Idea:

    - Spring has SPRUNG.

    - It's finally SPRING!

    - Put some spring in your step with this

  • Preview Text Idea:

    - Stop and smell the roses.

    - Thanks to that groundhog.

    - Deals inside...

Coupon Codes are KILLING your business.

Every time someone uses a coupon code, your margins literally SHRINK.

Check out what happens when you switch to a CashBack model instead:

- 17% of people request cashback

- 26% of people request store credit

- 57% DO NOTHING

In other words, you literally add $4,035.44 back to your bottom line since it's gone unclaimed.

The beauty of this model is that shoppers pay full price and then redeem post-purchase for either cash or store credit.

But the reality is more than 50% never redeem either.

And those that redeem store credit will spend $$$ with you in the future.

Between unclaimed $$$ and those that opt for store credit, you're now WAY more profitable.

This is crushing for my clients, so I just joined Fondue, the app that powers this, as an advisor.

Campaign Idea 3 - The Wedding SZN Email:

  • Email Examples:

    - The Wedding SZN Email Example 1

The Wedding SZN Email Example 2

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

It's truly the season of love from now until October. Wedding season is upon us, and it's up to you to help your audience pick some outfits so they aren't dressed in something weird. Lots to focus on for this one so let's jump in.

Example 1 is from Cult Gaia. You'll notice that this email is styled like a fashion catalog from the 90s. I think that's done on purpose, because it's kind of an aesthetic. Also, one line of copy. One line. This is so image-heavy because it's just meant for you to scroll through all of the options right there in the email. Interesting idea here. You should try it.

Example 2 is from Reformation, another fashion brand. The difference between this one and the last one is that we have some recommendations based on the person's personality and role at the event. I think this is an interesting way to do it. Also, you know this by now, but I think it would get a higher click rate if they left out most of the images and added some curiosity by leaving out the stuff they actually wanna see. Just a thought, but I've seen that work really well.

  • Segment(s):

    - Your engaged segment

  • Subject Line Idea:

    - It's wedding season!

    - WEDDING SZN

    - Dress for second best (of course)

  • Preview Text Idea:

    - See what's in store.

    - GET READY.

    - It's her day.

That's all, folks!

Thanks again for reading. Hope you use these to make some big money for the first week of spring.

And last but not least, I'm excited to share that my friend Devin and I will be doing a free virtual training on April 4th.
