Hey there! Every 2 weeks or so, Kathleen (she's our email boss lady now) would assign me the task of writing to our email list, and I can write about anything, from product updates to brand or market insights. This week, I've decided to share something slightly different. I'll share a bit about Impack as a business after some quick launch updates 👇🏼 | | Our bats & ghosts are getting the love Our first seasonal launch exceeded our expectations within the first week alone. We realized people want to send out orders using Halloween-themed packaging as early as the beginning of September, so we've decided to air-ship a portion of our inventory to both the US and Canada, and they're already close to selling out! Thankfully, the rest of the inventory is almost here 🙏🏼 Lesson learned, we'll release our seasonal prints much earlier next time! P.s. If our Halloween mailers have been on your shopping list, you can grab them here. Next launch: Christmas mailers 🎄💡✨ ETA is end of October, right after Halloween. If you haven't already, head over to our FB group to see some sneak peeks. We currently have a year-round discount code for FB group members. | | Where do our sales come from? Here's a rough breakdown of September: - Amazon: 70%
- Website: 20%
- Etsy: 10%
Why am I even sharing this with you? In short, because I think more shops should at least consider the possibility of selling on Amazon (FBA). As of Aug 9 last year, 61% of US consumers begin their product hunt on Amazon (once they have a product in mind). Sure, Amazon can be a real headache compared to platforms like Etsy, thanks to tricky policies and strict regulations, I still think it's one of, if not the quickest ways to launch a product to a mass audience. A large number of people who buy our products on Amazon have not heard of us before. So we're reaching 2 different audiences between our website and Amazon, with only some slight overlaps (e.g. people found us on Amazon, then started buying on our site after that). It is however, not for every type of product. It's usually ideal for products that are small & light and/or with high margins and your logistics need to be ready to move big volume (because sales velocity plays a large part in their ranking algorithms). FBA fees can add up quickly, so products with a good profit margin can absorb those costs better. So as a customer, how can you support us? If you have been buying on our website, we'd still love you here! If you have bought from us on Amazon, please consider leaving us a review (a photo or short video would be awesome!). That goes a long way to help others understand what our product looks like in real life, and help us stand out ✨ It's a push-and-pull thing: We're working hard to grow our sales on the website (30% increase from last quarter), but more sales on Amazon also means higher ranking & more visibility so more people can find us. Thanks to your amazing support, we've been growing on both platforms. You guys are the best 🙏🏼 | | Don't sleep on email marketing | | I have probably mentioned this a couple times in the past, but email has been increasingly important for our business, especially during launches. We did 3 launches in September. Here's a screenshot of how much email contributed to our sales. | | Two things I want to share with you: - Our emails have resulted in ~50% of our website revenue. Without the launches, they've been around 20-30% mark. That's still a significant chunk.
- Revenue from our email Flows (welcome series, cart abandonment, etc.,) is at 37.25%. That runs while we sleep. If we haven't set up any of those, that's basically opportunity lost. Some might say (including myself in the past) that they don't like automated emails because they're robotic, but it's more about designing these email flows so the customers can receive the relevant information they need at the right time. Many of our emails are designed to answer questions and clear up any misconceptions about our products!
So if you have been putting your email work on the never-ending-to-do list, or have done a little and want to do more, this is a reminder to spend a day this week to work on it. It is a never-ending process of learning, optimizing and improving our email skills, but as soon as you have something set up, it's there, and it's running 24/7 without supervision. Although I am by no means an expert in email marketing, if you're stuck or need help with any of this, just reply to any of our emails and I'll be happy to share what I know. Have an awesome week!
