Spartan debuted a historical venue in Europe, trail racers explored that bridge in California, and DEKA FIT hosted a one-of-a-kind event. Here's what you missed during a busy weekend of racing around the world. San Francisco, CA It was an unforgettable weekend at our biggest trail event in the US, and the final stop of the Spartan Trail World Championship: the Golden Gate Trail Classic. The weekend started with a gloomy, wet Saturday for the 50-mile and 50k races, where runners battled a classic Bay Area storm to complete their challenges. Also in typical SanFran fashion, the sun came out for a sparkling Sunday Half Marathon and 10k race. Runners traversed the headlands and crossed the Golden Gate bridge, all while enjoying the spectacular oceanside views. The main spot on the podium was taken by Olivia Lantz and Valentin Benard for the Half Marathon, and Aude Hofleitner and Benjamin Cook in the 50 mile race. Phoenix, AZ It's a speedy course on the Phoenix Raceway, where Spartans explored the same track as NASCAR drivers and traversed into the surrounding wildlife trails. Newberry, SC This year's South Carolina Trifecta was hosted by the Johnson Family farm, a Spartan fan-favorite featuring woodsy trails, water elements, and Alison Johnson and Lawson Ross who finished first in the sprint! Tenerife, Spain Luckily, the only outdoor DEKA FIT event in the world turned out sunny, albeit on the hot side, and an ocean dip wasn't far for the 1,000 participants, including Tomas Tvrdik who made his DEKA Spain comeback since his first win in 2021, and Mikaela Norman with her third win this season! Cerveteri - Roma, Italy At the debut of Spartan Cerveteri-Roma, athletes raced among iconic sites, starting at the ancient Medieval Square, passing through the Etruscan Necropolis, and finishing in front of the Castle, crowning Gregory Basilico Super Elite champion just two weeks after winning a 2023 Trifecta World Champion title in Sparta.
