Happy Thursday! Here's what I'm seeing regarding email marketing and copywriting this week. This edition is full of tips and resources. So without further ado, let's dive in: | | Email Campaign Idea - The Winter Email: -
Purpose/Context of Email: Winter is hard. People in any state above the Carolinas and Canada are going through a brutal season. As a brand, how can you relate to them through this? How can you provide solutions to the problems caused by winter? Even if it's only slightly related, you can make their season a little bit brighter for them. Use elements from examples like this in your emails when you do it.
Example 1 is from is Lupii. This is one of the best-designed emails I've seen in a while! The colors are very warm and inviting, and it's super clean-looking. The copy of this email is all about how to stay warm during winter, and their product is positioned as a solution. I think this is genius! I would definitely buy from this email if the claim is true. That's another thing about millennials. They love trying unorthodox solutions to problems that they've had for a while. Love this email.
Example 2 is from Bobbi Brown. This is an email about how to take care of your hair in the winter. Again, if you can position your product as the best way to cure X problem created by winter, you're gonna win. In this case, women KNOW that their hair gets frizzy and less luscious (couldn't think of a better word here lol) when the temperature drops below 30. This email simply shows which products solve which problems, and it's obviously insanely effective. Great job here. If you wanna make an email like this, make a list of all problems that one may experience in the winter, and then highlight any of those problems if your product can solve them. Segment(s):

"Hey [First Name], You Left Something Behind!"
Personalized subject lines, especially in cart abandonment emails, significantly increase open rates. Using the customer's first name creates a sense of familiarity and urgency.
- Create Urgency:
"Hurry! Your Favorite Items are Almost Gone!"
This type of subject line instills a fear of missing out (FOMO), prompting quicker action from the customer. It works well for limited stock alerts or time-sensitive offers.
- Leverage Curiosity:
"You Won't Believe What's Inside..."
Curiosity-driven subject lines generate intrigue, encouraging recipients to open the email to satisfy their curiosity. This approach is effective for new product launches or special announcements.
- Utilize Social Proof:
"See Why 10,000 Customers Love This!"
Using numbers and social proof in subject lines can build trust and interest. It's particularly effective for promoting best-sellers or highly-reviewed products. | | Copywriting Resource of the Week: Here are 10 questions you need to answer in your copy.

| | Email Marketing Audit Learnings: An ecommerce company recently approached my team to do an email audit as they were facing challenges with low open and click-through rates.
After analyzing their email account, here's a condensed version of our main recommendations to revive their email marketing channel: - Strategic Email Segmentation: Currently, your emails lack personal relevance due to a one-size-fits-all approach. This is a crucial area to address.
Action Plan: Implement segmentation based on purchase history, engagement levels, browsing behavior, and demographic information.
- Personalized Content Creation: Generic content won't cut it. Your audience needs to feel that each email is crafted for them.
Action Plan: Develop emails specifically tailored to the different segments. This includes curated product recommendations, personalized offers, and content that aligns with their interests.
- Subject Line A/B Testing: Your current subject lines aren't doing their job. You need to be implementing ongoing A/B subject line tests, as this is low-hanging fruit to improve your open rates.
Action Plan: Regularly test different subject line styles and formats to identify what resonates best with each segment. Keep track of the metrics to inform future campaigns.
- Mobile Optimization: A significant portion of your audience reads emails on mobile devices. Neglecting this is causing a decrease in your email engagement rates.
Action Plan: Ensure all emails are responsive and visually appealing on various screen sizes. Test your emails on multiple devices before sending them out. If you own/run/work at an Ecommerce company doing at least $1 million in annual revenue, hit reply and let me know, so my team can audit your email channel to see if there's a good fit for working together. | | ChatGPT-4 Marketing Prompt: Develop [number] creative social media campaign ideas to raise awareness and drive conversions for our client's new product launch.
