Dear Chase,
Lemme put you onto something real quick.
Not all advice around making money is directly related to what you're working on.
Obviously, in a service-based business like copywriting, the best way to make more money is to do more outreach.
Or, with e-commerce, the best way to make more money is to spend more on ads.
Yeah, whatever.
We never think about how simply putting out goodness into the universe will make our bank account bigger.
How simply being DESERVING of the money will make us richer.
I always ask myself anytime I don't get what I want, "did I really deserve it?"
Most of the time, if I don't get it, the answer is no.
But, on the flip side, when I DO get what I want, I know I deserved it.
I'm gonna share 3 weird tips on making money that are not related to working on your business.
If you're spiritual/religious, this is going to make sense to you.
If you don't identify as such, all I ask is for you to open your mind to the possibility that this could be real.
I've already proven it for myself.
Tip #1: Give money away, even if it's uncomfortable.
I am a phenomenal tipper. To the point where I've seen a couple servers and Uber drivers shed tears because of it.
If I tip you 20%, you must have called me a name and spit in my food. 20% is an insult.
My standard is 50-60%. If you're good, it's 100%. If you made an impact on me, it's as high as 500%.
One time, a friend and I went to a bar with some girls and sat at a table.
The table was reserved, so we knew we could only sit down for a few minutes before we had to move.
5 minutes later, the reservation showed up and we got up to stand by the bar. No big deal.
The bar owner we were dealing with (and had met before) was so upset that they made us stand up from the table, so he went over and kicked the reservation off the table.
He waved us back over and we sat back down, lol.
I remember tipping him $699 on a $75 tab, the full price of a Copy MBA.
Does that make economical sense for me to do so? Absolutely not. In no way does it technically benefit me to tip that much, besides seeing someone else's day made.
However, I can ALWAYS track back a good deed to a big win in business within a few days.
You can say it's a coincidence, but I don't think that it is.
Sometimes I'll give money to homeless people, even if their sign sucks. Usually $40-60.
Homeless people in Miami are LAZY.
In Canada, they'll sing to you and compliment you and stuff. They get all the money in my wallet lol.
But Miami homeless never get paid because they have no game. Slumped against a wall just sleeping. And I'll still give them money.
Again, that deed comes back to me in the form of a big opportunity or a big W.
It's not scientific. I don't know why it happens. It just does.
So, carry a bunch of cash on you. Throw it around. Be generous. And watch what happens.
Tip #2: Actually believe that you can make money for REAL.
Listen.
This is another one that doesn't make sense as to why it works, but it JUST DOES.
I believe that intentions = energy.
And energy is everything.
God, or the Universe, can feel your intentions when doing something and you'll usually get it if you feel that strongly about it.
If you REALLY want something, the chances of you not getting it (even if it's far away and out of reach) are slim to none.
The girl (or partner) you want, for example.
If you REALLY want them, like REALLY want them, you'll usually get them.
If you don't get them, it's because you didn't want them that bad.
It's not even about the actions you take because you want her. It's just about putting forth that energy into the world.
Same goes with money/business. If you REALLY want it, you will get it. If you don't get it, you didn't have enough energy flowing through you.
I remember the big shift when I started copywriting.
I only started to make money when I actually realized (and believed) it was possible.
Once I literally knew for a fact that it was inevitable, that's when I signed my first few clients.
Once it clicked in my head where I was like "oh, this is GOING to happen. I just need to send enough cold emails. It's literally guaranteed to work."
THAT is when I made money.
When I was on the fence about if it was real, I didn't make any money.
Conviction is everything.
Have conviction that it will happen and you will be rewarded in some strange, spiritual, indirect way.
Tip #3: Surround yourself with it constantly.
"It."
I'm being vague on purpose.
It doesn't matter what IT is, just surround yourself with it.
Remember that email I sent to you months ago about learning Spanish and trying to integrate as much of my life into the practice of learning as I possibly could?
Same thing here.
If your goal is money...
Surround yourself with successful people.
Listen to money podcasts.
Watch money content on YouTube.
Write to yourself about money.
Learn about different business models.
Follow money guys/gals on Twitter and IG.
Make it everything.
When it becomes 100% of your consciousness, it becomes reality.
That's what I do every time I start a new business.
When I started copywriting, my entire BRAIN was business. Work was all I thought of.
12 hours a day. And when I closed my laptop, my brain was still running.
It has to be like that.
You have to get a little obsessed.
You're manifesting without manifesting.
It's funny how it works.
Have a good weekend, Chase.
Yours truly,
Alex.
