We watched them burn, again.

Hi ,

I hope you are well. I wrote something out that was posted on Instagram already so you might have seen it there.

I woke up today, praying that what we saw yesterday was just a nightmare. Even the human brain could not create a scene so horrific and gruesome in its sleep. I opened my phone and it was real. The dust settled and the burned tents and the bodies reduced to ashes were real.

The child who was still on IV's in the hospital's tents with his hand reaching out for help as every inch of his body was melting in front of us. He was real.

Is this the world you want to live in? Is this the world you want your children to accept as normal? Is there a specific injustice that needs to happen for the world to wake up? When does this become 'inhumane' to the world?

For 373 days, they have screamed. No one answered.

If you accept this to be normal, you must also accept that this can one day happen to you and your family. You will scream. No one will answer.

I write this here to reiterate how important it is to stand up for all injustices because it affects us all collectively. Yes, we are all hurting and it does affect our hearts but if we, as a society, choose to accept that this is normal, then this will be normal everywhere. This could be normal one day in the place we live. What we saw yesterday happens every time you see an airstrike or fire in Gaza, the only difference was there were journalists there yesterday to capture the final moments of those families. Keep protesting online and in person. Keep being loud. Don't lose hope.

The night is darkest just before dawn's sun. Good will always prevail.
