Purpose/Context of Email:


Do you like high margins? Good, me too! That's why you should be sending gift with purchase campaigns, or more commonly styled as GWP campaigns. Fairly straightforward, just a campaign that tells people if they spend X, they get a free gift with their order. This is REALLY GOOD for you, because the "gift" you include might only cost you $2-5 to actually produce. It carries way more value for your audience, but is way less expensive for you.

Example 1
 is from Every Man Jack. They run the GWP offer pretty often, and they're a massive brand. It must be working for them. 

I also like that this brand doesn't explicitly tell you what the gift is. It's like the Kinder Surprise model of email marketing, and it's very interesting. I think that added curiosity really makes this offer even more compelling. Try this ASAP!

Example 2
 is from Shein, a true DTC behemoth. Shein is the brand that came out of nowhere, and now crushes everyone. They could send an email of a gif of a person sneezing wearing one of their shirts and they'd make $25 million. I can only imagine how big this email was for them.

I do think that Shein could use the help of an agency to keep themselves from posting every collection within the same email. The GWP email could be its own feature and do just fine. Again, they don't make it clear what the free gift is, but they don't necessarily tell you it's a surprise. It's a mystery. That's why we love Shein.

Remember: The less customers have to think, the faster they'll buy. Anticipate doubts, eliminate hesitation, and make saying "yes" the easiest choice.
