| | WHAT WE'RE WATCHING | | π₯ Trump and Bukele clash with the media over MS-13 deportee. President Trump and El Salvador's President Nayyib Bukele lambasted a CNN reporter who questioned whether a "mistakenly deported" MS-13 member would return to the US. Multiple Trump officials emphasized El Salvador's sovereignty over its citizens, while Bukele declared he wouldn't release "terrorists" back into the US. The coordinated response demonstrates how Trump has built a coalition of leaders willing to push back against mainstream media narratives on immigration. | π Trump froze $2.2B in Harvard grants for rejecting demands. The Trump administration froze $2.2 billion in federal grants to Harvard after the university rejected demands to dismantle its DEI programs and screen international students for ties to antisemitism or extremism. The freeze puts nearly $9 billion in federal funding at risk, as the White House warns elite universities must comply with civil rights laws to keep taxpayer support. Harvard, backed by a $53 billion endowment, is vowing to push back against the Trump administration. | π©° Trump brings an imprisoned ballerina home from Russia. President Trump secured the release of Russian-American ballerina Ksenia Karelina, who faced a 12-year sentence for donating $51.80 to a Ukrainian charity. The deal was accomplished through a prisoner swap involving a German-Russian citizen, Arthur Petrov, who the US claims sold sensitive information on microelectronics. This successful negotiation reinforces Trump's unique ability to work with Putin to bring Americans home, even amid heightened tensions. | βοΈ The White House is seeking $9 billion in spending cuts. The Trump administration is preparing to request Congress slash funding for several federal programs after the Easter recess. They are seeking to claw back $1.1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funds PBS and NPR, and $8.3 billion from USAID. All of these institutions have promoted left-wing agendas under the guise of serving the public interest. |

| | THE MAIN STORY | Mentally ill attackers come for Trump, Shapiro | | WHAT'S HAPPENING_ | A pair of deadly plots drew national attention this week β one targeting a sitting governor, the other aimed at assassinating the president. In Pennsylvania, a man hurled Molotov cocktails into Governor Josh Shapiro's (D) home while his family slept, later admitting he wanted to beat the governor with a hammer. | Meanwhile, in Wisconsin, a teenager allegedly murdered his mother and stepfather to fund a plan to kill President Donald Trump and trigger a white supremacist uprising. Both cases highlight extremist motivations β but also deep, seemingly untreated mental illnesses. | | _THE FACTS_ | The Arson attack: | Cody Balmer, 38, threw Molotov cocktails into Gov. Shapiro's mansion while Shapiro and his family were inside. Shapiro and his family escaped unharmed, though the mansion was heavily damaged. Balmer told police he hated Shapiro and planned to beat him with a hammer if they met face-to-face. He admitted to making the explosives, walking an hour to the mansion, and smashing windows before the attack. His mother told CBS he was "mentally ill" and off his medication at the time. Balmer had been arrested previously for forgery and theft.
| The Trump assassination plot: | Nikita Casap, 17, is accused of killing his mother and stepfather to gain financial access to carry out a violent terror plot. When he was arrested β driving his parents' stolen vehicle β he had over $28,000 in stolen cash and jewelry, along with a revolver. FBI documents say he followed the neo-Nazi Order of Nine Angles, the FBI claims is a "satanic cult" with "strong anti-Judaism, anti-Christian, and anti-Western ideologies." Agents recovered a manifesto outlining his plans to assassinate Trump, use drones as weapons, build bombs, and spark a war to "save the white race." Casap planned to flee to Ukraine after the attack.
