| | WHAT WE'RE WATCHING | | π₯ Antifa occupied a university building, sets fires. Antifa militants took over a University of Washington building, set fires, and barricaded entrances, trying to get the school to divest from Boeing, which they claim is too supportive of Israel. The group reportedly made violent anti-Israel statements during the occupation, and a King County public defender was among 30 arrested. Radical anti-Israel activism continues to bleed into public institutions. | πΎπͺ Trump ends Yemen strikes after Houthi truce. President Trump said the US would stop bombing Yemen after the Houthis agreed to halt attacks on Red Sea shipping. Oman brokered the deal, but the Houthis denied surrendering and warned Israeli ships remain targets. This comes as Israel launched their own strikes in Yemen, destroying their main airport. | π India hit Pakistan terror camps following an attack. India's military launched missile strikes into Pakistan, targeting what it called terrorist infrastructure linked to the April 22 Kashmir massacre, where Pakistani terrorists murdered over two dozen Indian civilians. Pakistan's government denied involvement in the terror attack and called the strikes unjustified. The threat of full-scale war is looming between these two nuclear-armed enemies. | π° Foreign aid official took secret kickbacks. Mathieu Zahui, CFO of the African Development Foundation, funneled nearly $800,000 in no-bid contracts to a friend's company, then received wire transfers in return. Zahui blocked DOGE's access to agency records and resisted Trump's appointee to the agency. The USAID-linked agency is now under federal control after a standoff. |

| | EDITOR'S NOTE | America backs off the Houthis | Good morning. Weeks ago, Trump made it clear: "Every shot fired by the Houthis" would be treated as a strike by Iran. So when the Houthis targeted US military and commercial vessels, Trump responded β bombing them for weeks. | But this week, things changed. After coordinating with Hamas, firing missiles at Israel, and shutting down its airport, the Houthis found success: the Trump administration announced it would no longer strike them β claiming the Houthis had capitulated. | America is backing off and negotiating for itself, not the region. Maybe Trump doesn't want to stay deeply involved as the isolationists win out. Meanwhile, allies like Britain and Israel are unsure whether the Houthis are really done. | But with Iran still inching toward nuclear weapons, Trump has a lot of work ahead. | |

| | THE MAIN STORY | ICE rams through sanctuary states | | WHAT'S HAPPENING_ | Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons vowed that ICE will "ramp up" raids in sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. | This comes as the Trump administration intensifies its legal fight against sanctuary policies, with the Department of Justice (DOJ) suing cities and states for violating the Constitution's Supremacy Clause, which prioritizes federal law over conflicting state laws. | Sanctuary jurisdictions often refuse to detain individuals solely based on immigration status, protecting them from federal authorities seeking their deportation. | | _THE FACTS_ | Lyons said ICE has only 5,500 deportation officers nationwide and supports a GOP plan to add 10,000 more. ICE has signed 562 agreements with local law enforcement to deputize officers for immigration enforcement β a 316 percent increase over the Biden era. President Trump signed an executive order last week targeting sanctuary cities by withholding federal funds for those obstructing immigration law enforcement. DOJ alleges that Colorado's policies enabled the Tren de Aragua gang to seize control of a Denver-area apartment complex, per a new lawsuit. The Trump administration is also suing Denver over sanctuary city laws that prevent probation officers from contacting ICE, with a $50,000 fine for attempting to notify immigration authorities. A spokesman for Governor Jared Polis (D-CO) asserted that Colorado is not a sanctuary state and that they are fully cooperating with authorities. In response to this, Rep. Gabe Evans (R-CO) told Upward News, "By definition, Colorado is a sanctuary state. Tren de Aragua and fentanyl traffickers have found a safe haven here because of Colorado Democrats." DOJ has also filed lawsuits against sanctuary policies in Illinois, Minnesota, and New York.
