The egg is one of the most versatile ingredients and a true shape-shifter. From bake-sale brownies, to diner breakfast plates, and the refined egg white cocktail you order on a Saturday night out, eggs manage to fit in everywhere. The versatility of the egg and of ways to cook it may be intimidating (and a bit too overwhelming) to execute at 8 AM for breakfast—which is why eggs for dinner is a strong move.
A simple scrambled egg feels transportive in this Korean street food staple egg sandwich. A steamed egg is a fool-proof blank canvas for mix-ins of any ingredient, and certain to yield a puffy, protein dense dinner. Don't feel like standing over the stove after a long work day? Then a cheesy shirred egg is your best friend, add a hunk of rustic bread and a simple salad and dinner is served.
The hard boiled egg need not be a chalky, gray-yolked mess. Invest in an electric egg cooker for guaranteed results every time. Or, if a jammy hard boiled egg is what you're after, it's as simple as knowing that 7 minutes of cooking (and not a second more!) is the sweet spot. Use these eggy jewels to top store-bought ramen to make for a quick weeknight meal.
Mastering the perfect fried egg might be intimidating, especially first thing in the AM. But on a weekend evening, with some music playing in your kitchen (and perhaps one of those egg white cocktails in your hand) you can take your time preparing this Korean bibimbap, fried egg and all, using this step-by-step fried egg guide.
