Campaign Idea 1 - The Labor Day Sale Starts Email:

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

    Labor Day is one of the biggest sale holidays in the US, which means we need to prepare. We're still 3 weeks (or so) out from the day of, but you need to have a ton of content ready. Here's what you should have!

    Example 1 is from Mixtiles.

    I believe that Mixtiles might be one of the best DTC brands in terms of being aggressive on sales and still having a cool, strong brand. They're as direct response as it gets when you're selling products like this, and you should watch how they do it. Try to duplicate the framework they use for sales like this, especially for Labor day.

    Example 2 is from Scotch And Soda.

    Scotch And Soda is a massive brand, which means they're also someone we need to watch. I always recommend doing whatever brands this size do via email, except this might be the wrong example. S & S is big enough that they can give you one line of copy and some images of their products and pull in 5-6 figures from one campaign. You might need to add some more info/details, but the same principles apply.

Campaign Idea 2 - The Community Email:

  • Purpose/Context of Email:

    Community is truly what makes a brand, a brand. Without having some level of commonality in your audience, you're just a product. The thing that makes it sticky is the people and the relationships that your audience forms with one another inside this community. Send emails like this that'll plug your community and build it up both in terms of quantity and quality.

    Example 1 is from Prose. For this one, they talk about how they're giving back to their customers in the form of charitable contributions to affected people. When 90% of your audience is feeling the pressure of something (poverty, homelessness, assault, mistreatment), it's important to say something. As a brand, this is such a great move and I hope that more people will do something similar. If you do, a campaign like this will help you a ton.


    Example 2 is from Rootine. This type of group is so great for your product. It adds a level of commitment to your audience which is rare for DTC. Getting people into a Facebook Group, Discord, etc, is an extra layer of involvement that is almost a necessity in this market. You can't have one-time purchasers and be profitable anymore. You have to go deeper, just like Rootine.
